Palestine Action activists found not guilty of aggravated burglary

ITN solicitors acted for all six defendants found not guilty of aggravated burglary following a six-week trial at Woolwich Crown Court. Three defendants were also cleared of violent disorder. The jury were unable to reach verdicts in respect of criminal damage against all defendants, violent disorder against three and causing grievous bodily harm with intent in respect of one. There were no guilty verdicts returned.

The trial related direct action carried out by activists at Elbit System’s factory in Filton, Bristol in August 2023. Elbit Systems is Israel’s largest weapon’s manufacturer.

Rajiv Menon KC of Garden Court Chambers acted for the first defendant, leading Kate O’Raghallaigh of Doughty Street Chambers.

Other defendants were represented by Tom Wainwright, Audrey Cherryl Mogan and Catherine Oborne of Garden Court and Mira Hammad of Garden Court North.

ITN’s Andrew Morris represent the sixth defendant who was cleared of aggravated burglary and violent disorder.
