Client Acquitted of Firearms Possession Following Successful Defence

14/7/2026

We are pleased to announce that our client was acquitted by a Crown Court jury on 3rd July 2026 of possession of a firearm, following a successful defence led by Femi Halil and counsel Lucie Wibberley of Garden Court Chambers.

The case involved a detailed examination of our client's background and personal circumstances. Through careful preparation, targeted disclosure requests and extensive investigation, our solicitor Femi Halil worked tirelessly to obtain key defence material and ensure that the client's circumstances were fully understood and presented before the jury.

A key aspect of the defence was demonstrating that our client, who had previously been involved in gang activity but had since sought to distance himself from that lifestyle, was acting under duress at the time of the alleged possession. The jury heard evidence about the realities of gang-related coercion and the risks faced by individuals attempting to leave gang environments and resist the influence of senior gang members.

The acquittal reflects the importance of understanding the wider circumstances surrounding allegations of serious criminal offences and ensuring that all relevant information is placed before the court.

We are grateful for the outstanding advocacy provided by Lucie Wibberley and pleased to have secured this result for our client, enabling him to continue building a life free from gang involvement.
