Salary: £22,500 per annum

We are looking for a Legal Assistant to undertake a variety of administrative and casework tasks at our Head Office in Tower Hill, London. You will work under the supervision of a partner and work with other fee earners in the Family Department.

The Department

Our dedicated team of Family and Children lawyers provide high quality services to clients encompassing all aspects of family law. The department is ranked in the Legal 500 and has been involved in high profile, published cases including in the High Court. We deal with a diverse range of family work, including public and private children law, domestic abuse, child abduction, adoption, forced marriage and Female Genital Mutilation, divorce/dissolution of civil partnerships, matrimonial finance, co-habitation and property disputes between unmarried couples, same sex relationships.

Required Qualities

  • Experience as a Legal Assistant/Paralegal or in office administration
  • Computer literate
  • Knowledge of MS Office
  • Proven time-management
  • Ability to multitask

The Role

The successful applicant will become a valued member of our driven family team and the role will include:

  • To comply with all Professional Codes of Conduct that apply to Solicitors.
  • Provide administrative support to the solicitors in the Family team, including making applications for Legal Aid, making enquiries with clients, the court, opponents, and experts, and preparing court bundles.
  • Use our case work management system to maintain records, produce documents and record time.
  • Arrange meetings and maintain the office calendars.
  • Answer telephone calls for fee earners, take notes/messages and redirect calls when appropriate.
  • Preparing cases and managing files to ensure readiness for all litigation stages and Court hearings.
  • Filing documents at Court.
  • Attending meetings/hearings to take notes.
  • To be of general assistance as required by the firm.
